Lakers Playoff Schedule: Who & When Would LA Play in Next Round?

The Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of advancing, and the question is no longer whether they'll move on — it's who they'll face when they do.
Up 3-0 against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers can close out the series in Game 4 on Sunday, April 26, at 9:30 PM Eastern on NBC. If Houston forces a Game 5, that contest would be Wednesday, April 29.

Should the Lakers advance, they'll face the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder–Phoenix Suns series. Oklahoma City currently holds a 2-0 lead, making a Thunder-Lakers second round the most likely scenario.
The second round is expected to begin between May 2 and May 4, though exact dates depend on when both first-round series conclude. A quick finish in both series would push the start date toward the earlier end of that window.
For the Lakers, the challenge ahead is significant either way. Oklahoma City earned the No. 1 seed for a reason — their depth, defensive intensity, and home-court advantage make them a fundamentally different challenge than the Rockets, who have struggled to generate consistent offense in this series.
Phoenix, should they mount a comeback, would present a different kind of test. The Suns' star power can flip any game, but they've yet to find an answer for OKC's defensive schemes through two games.
The Lakers' own performance has been convincing. Their ball movement, defensive rotations, and bench production have all been sharp, and they haven't needed hero-ball from their stars to control this series.
What This Means For You: The NBA playoffs move fast, and the second round will be here before most fans process the first. If you're tracking the Lakers' title chances, the Oklahoma City matchup would be the first true measuring-stick series of their postseason. Circle May 2 on the calendar.
